Getting the “Homewrecker” sound:

You know what I mean; it’s the sound that makes you want to sit on your front porch all day, ignoring the wife and kids, not mowing the lawn or washing the car, just getting lost in the sweet haunting sound of your dream guitar. That’s what we call the “Homewrecker guitar”, and that sound doesn’t happen by accident. From research to final build, everything that goes into a D’Lorenzo guitar is all about the sound. Sure, a handcrafted custom quality instrument must look and play great, but any high end factory guitar will meet that standard. But even high end factory guitars are built for uniformity and consistancy rather than spending time on wringing every possible drop of acoustic tone volume and sustain out of each guitar.

This process starts at the design stage, rethinking every element of guitar construction ie: what needs to change to optimize the sound of this guitar? To make meaningful change (not just aesthetic or decor- ative changes) requires a great deal of research and experimentation. Not all ideas work out – if you are serious about advancing the art and craft of guitarbuilding, be prepared to end up with a “corner of shame” in your shop, where unsucessful concept guitars gather dust. But out of this research and experimentation rise guitars that set a new standard for rich woody tone, singing sustain and punchy acoustic volume: the “homewrecker”. We don’t really want you to quit your job, ignore your responsibilities and ruin your life just to play your D’Lorenzo guitar, but it should be tempting. Pick responsibly!
